3D Component Assembly Training

Built an Interactive Maintenance & Repair application for Assa Abloy Group, a Swedish lock, automatic and security door manufacturer, and is the world's largest lock manufacturer by sales volume. The application provides 3D interactive step-by-step product assembly instructions along with a built-in library of supporting videos and technical specification sheets.

  • Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul has been primarily viewed as the activity and cost of the asset manufacturers & operators like ASSA ABLOY. While optimizing the process of designing and building an asset, its equally crucial to optimize its maintenance, repair and overhaul in a manner that would minimize costs and maximize revenue
  • Today’s maintenance companies are under pressure to keep an asset mobile. To accomplish this, they require better communications tools along the supply chain
  • The challenge is to maintain an optimum balance between maximizing fleet availability, minimizing operating costs and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • The need is to determine new technologies that can be deployed to generate optimum set of integrated maintenance offerings that will provide both operators and asset owners with genuine levels of “service”

  • To accomplish this we worked with ASSA ABLOY and developed an iOS/Android based interactive instruction manual
  • The application features user-friendly and easy to navigate interface. It holds exploratory product views with annotations and 360 degrees interactions. It features "Training" module that shows interactive instructions on assembly and disassembly of components
  • It also has a section that holds rich media like videos and technical specification sheets
  • In the next phase, we will incorporate a team communicator by which on-site repair technician can connect with supervisor and get live assistance through augmented reality based visual support along with the interactive content with understandable instructions and checklists

  • With this solution, ASSA ABLOY sees the greatest potential for optimisation in the core areas of training and service. The technology can be used anywhere in the world where specific, interactive user support is useful in service processes
  • This solution offers its customers and technicians a wide range of possibilities to perform their service tasks - even without the specialists. Step-by-step instructions are displayed into the eyesight range of technicians which minimizes error rate
  • The training effort for the technicians is minimised through this visual support and the insertion of interactive content with understandable instructions and checklists
  • One of the main advantages is sustainability with significant benefits for the customer in terms of downtime, response times and operating costs
